Who's quisine reigns supreme?

Cooking games for kids are pure fun in the kitchen. All the ideas here are free. The only price of admission is your creativity and imagination and lots of it!!!!!!

Props aren't neccessary... but come on! They add to the fun.. the ambiance.. And your kids will love getting into character. Just some simple chef's hats that can be bought at the store... but really any tall hat will do.... my favorite is to get a large sheet of white paper, roll it into a cylinder and staple or tape the ends together... and wallah! A cheap 5 star chef's hat ready for action! Any aprons around the house will do. A step stool will come in handy too!

As they concoct their creations be sure they practice their best funny accents, snobby Frenchman is my favorite.

The Leaning Tower of Sandwich!

Just gather some ingredients. How about different slices of bread? Get a variety of condiments like mayo mustard catchup, honey, peanut butter, molasses,jelly etc and set them all up on the counter. and then of course different deli meats, like chicken, salami, bologna. Lettuce onions, sliced tomatoes, etc...

Then see who can make the tallest sandwiches before they topple! You can give points for height, taste, color and what ever else they can come up with. plus bonus points for any one who can fit the whole sandwich in their mouth for one bite. Have your camera ready for this one!

Kid's Iron Chef

Now this one is meant to be an event! It's great for gatherings like parties and family reunions. So it will take some planning! But feel free to substitute or downsize the ideas to match your ambition or situation.

Let your kids flex their culinary creative muscle. Gather some base ingredients and a cheering section for each gastronomic gladiator. For extra fun give each chef an adult sou chef. Your kids will get a kick out of bossing them around and getting them to do all the slicing, chopping, and fetching, etc.

Once chef, sou chef and audience are in place. It's time for a secret ingredient to be revealed.... The teams will now have 1 hour or what ever time limit you set to make their best dish using the secret ingredient.

Have the cheering sections root for their heroes, and encourage your culinary contenders to fire them up!

When time is up and the dust settles it's time for the best part... tasting and judging.

Pick some volunteers from the audience to be the judges and let them rate each dish based on taste, originality and presentation... or any other criteria you can come up with.

Add up the scores and announce the winner!
